FIGHTING STRATEGIES
KICKBOXING, WRESTLING AND GROUNDWORK
We work on general principles that are universally applicable. We do not want to limit ourselves to one specific sport discipline, but rather cover as broad a range as possible.
‘SANSHOU’ is an umbrella term for all combat sport formats within Chinese martial arts.
Authentic traditional Kung Fu consists of ‘Ti, Da, Shuai and Na’ or ‘Kicking, Punching, Throwing and Grappling’. We use these four elements in various safe sports formats such as Sanda, Kickboxing, Thai boxing, wrestling, etc.
You learn to defend yourself in all possible situations. Think of long-distance kickboxing, ‘dirty boxing’ and clinch fighting in the middle range, and wrestling at close range. You also learn groundwork and how to get back up after a fall.
The techniques we use do not depend on your protective equipment, but when we play, we do opt for safety with boxing gloves and mouth guards.
If you want to play with weapons, we also have a specific weapon sparring session.
We work on strength, technique and strategy, with health as a nice side effect.
We do three things: learn, train and test.
You can do the first two with your training partners at the club.
The third is not mandatory, but if you choose to do it, we will go to competitions.
Testing in competition can be done under SANDA rules within the Flemish Wushu Federation, among others.
SANDA is a dynamic contact sport that combines kicking, punching and throwing.
