STRENGTH & CONDITIONING
A mix of modern and traditional methods
These fitness training sessions arose from the need to prepare students for the physical challenges involved in participating in combat sports competitions and training.
We tend to think ‘Bigger, Faster, Stronger,’ but injury prevention is the most important thing.
In combat sports, your opponent exploits your ‘weak links’. In everyday life, an uneven floor can lead to a sprain of that same weak link.
The versatile training protocols that keep a combat sports athlete injury-free protect ordinary mortals just as well.
You can enjoy the positive effects of these workouts without practising a combat sport.
The central idea is to move efficiently.
For exercises using your own body, our inspiration comes from kung fu, capoeira, silat, etc., as well as modern sports science.
We can isolate specific muscle groups with elastic bands, weights or rings.
For global movements, we use kettlebells, macebells, sandbags and flow ropes, among other things.
A challenge does not have to be boring. That is why variety is important and playful elements are incorporated into the training sessions.
Would you like to take up combat sports, but lack the necessary fitness? Then it is a very good idea to start with these training sessions first, to avoid injuries.
